Grant Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation (CIP 09-003)
Description
Widen and rehabilitate the existing bridge to accommodate bike lanes and sidewalks, replace substandard bridge railings, and stabilize the banks and channel of Novato Creek to minimize scouring of bridge foundations.
Location
Grant Avenue between 8th Street and Virginia Avenue.

Benefit
Improves streetscape conditions and safety of pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.
Schedule
Construction work is anticipated to start in 2019/2020, and should last approximately 6 months.
Cost
$2,400,000 including a $2,000,000 federal Highway Bridge Program grant.
Status Update 3/1/18:
Engineering design is now 65% and is anticipated to be finalized in 2018. The right-of-way process is also underway, and utility companies are in the process of relocating their facilities.
Bridge Railing Options: The City is considering three different bridge railing options, shown below. If residents have a preference, they can send an email to pw@novato.org. *Please note that the price for Option C would be twice the amount of options A and B.
