Celebrate this German tradition with food, music, beer and fun at the Margaret Todd Senior Center on September 13! The meal includes bratwurst, mustard, sauerkraut, soft pretzels, German potato salad and dessert. The Novato Senior Citizens Club will be serving beer and drinks at their no-host Biergarten while you enjoy live German music. The cost is $19 per person. Bring a friend or family member to this fun afternoon at the Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Road, Novato. Build your own ice cream sundae while socializing with friends, old and new! The event will take place on Wednesday, June 28 from 2pm-4pm. All ages welcome. Tickets cost $4 per person and are available for purchase at the Margaret Todd Senior Center front desk until June 27. Grab your passports and friends! Join us on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2-4pm for an afternoon of sipping tea and enjoying delicious pastries served on fine china. Do you have china that you would love to put to use? Enter our table decorating contest and create a tablescape using your own china setting. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative tablescape! Ticket price is $8 per person or $30 to enter our table decorating contest which includes 4 tickets. Sign-ups open February 1st. Novato's annual Fishing in the City program at Scottsdale Pond is co-sponsored by the City of Novato, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Novato Sunrise Rotary. Bait, tackle and rods are provided for this fun-filled family outing! Normal State fishing regulations apply, anyone 16+ must have a California Fishing License. Pre-registration is advised to ensure a space, but drop-ins are welcome if there's space. Clinics last 30 minutes, and run from 8:00am to 10:30am. This is a FREE event! Children are invited to craft a mother’s day gift for $5 at the Novato Parks and Recreation booth, while supplies last. The perfect opportunity to be creative and give mom a gift she will always remember!

Sundays on Sherman is back! We are thrilled to announce the winter edition of our community's play streets event! The event will be held on Sunday, December 13, 11:00am - 3:00pm. Please join us as we take over Sherman Avenue, the Novato Council Chambers and the City Green Park and fill it with festive holiday fun for all ages! We will be making holidays ornaments, taking pictures with Santa, playing life-sized board games, enjoying hot cocoa and cookies and more! On Sunday, July 26, 2015 the City of Novato's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department hosted its first play streets program. Taking the lead from San Francisco's popular program, Novato took over one of its main streets and closed it down to all vehicular activity so everyone could play safely in the street! Play streets are a chance for community members of all ages to come outside and participate in structured and unstructured play without traffic worries. Guests also participated in several organized exercise activities lead by well-known instructors throughout the community. The goal of the day was to simply PLAY, and that we did! More information >>
The Special Olympics World Games Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg Ceremony |

The City of Novato was honored to host a Special Olympics World Games ceremony to celebrate and commemorate the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg. The Flame of Hope, the official torch for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, was carried down Grant Avenue in Novato, with a ceremony held at the City Green, on Sherman Avenue, at 7:00 p.m. The celebration included live entertainment, keynote speeches, a gymnastics performance, healthy snacks and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet special Olympians.
