Cannabis (Marijuana) Regulations

With the passing of Proposition 64 legalizing the use of cannabis for both medicinal and non-medicinal use in California, the City has begun the process of determining what the future of cannabis will look like in Novato through workshops, surveys and public hearings that will help shape the policies and regulations related to cannabis.

Marin Census 2020

Every ten years, everyone living in the United States is counted as part of the Census. The next Census starts at the beginning of January 2020, and the data collected as part of the Census is used to make decisions about political representation at every level of government. To help make sure our community is up to date about the Census and our hard to count communities, the Marin County Complete Count Committee has developed a website to provide information on events, job opportunities and resources for the 2020 Marin Census.

Use of Parking Spaces for "Parklets"

At their April 24, 2018 meeting, the City Council discussed policy issues associated with the use of parking spaces along Grant Avenue for "parklets". Council directed staff to return at a future meeting with a formal "parklet" design and review policy for Council adoption exploring all options.

PG&E Community Pipeline Safety Initiative

Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) is working with customers and the City of Novato to help ensure safety crews have immediate access to natural gas transmission pipelines in case of an emergency. This important safety work involves reviewing structures, trees and brush located near the gas pipeline that could block emergency access for first responders or damage the pipeline.
