The City of Novato and Marin Sanitary Service have teamed up to launch a street sweeping mobile app. This easy-to-use tool allows residents and businesses to track their street sweeping schedules and receive timely reminders to move their vehicles on sweeping days.

Vehicles parked on the street on sweeping days can obstruct sweepers, limiting their ability to collect debris. Your help in moving parked vehicles ensures a more effective and efficient service throughout our community.

1. Download the Novato Street Sweeping MSS app in the app store;
2. Enter your home or business address;
3. Be sure to allow notifications in your device’s settings;
4. Select “More” to set up notifications and choose your day and time — that’s it! 

Street Sweeping Now Provided by Marin Sanitary Service

In October 2023, the Novato City Council approved an agreement with Marin Sanitary Service to provide street sweeping services to Novato. You may have already spotted a Marin Sanitary truck in your neighborhood as they began sweeping our streets!

Street Sweeping
One full-time sweeper operator cleans approximately 290 curb miles of gutter per sweep cycle and removes an estimated 80 to 200 cubic yards of debris. The sweeper completes a Citywide circuit every four to five weeks. The Street Sweeping program maintains 16 sweep areas, including all roadway islands. Each area is broken out into 24 to 28 curb mile segments.

Leaf Sweeping
Each November and December, a backup sweeper is put into service to pick up heavy leaf fall. Heavy leaf fall areas are swept as needed to ensure vehicle safety and nonrestricted water flow during winter rains.  After the New Year, the Street Sweeper Division will go back to their regularly monthly sweep schedule.

Homeowners and residents are encouraged to pick up their leaves and place them in the green waste composting cart provided by Recology Sonoma-Marin. The City asks that leaves are not raked or thrown in the gutter as this creates a potential hazard for vehicles, pedestrians, and clogs our storm drain inlets.

• Bel Marin Keys Industrial Park, Rush Landing & Vintage Oaks (Residential Areas 2 through 10 Tuesday to Friday 7:00am to 4:30pm)
