In Sign Maintenance, the crew maintains the street sign and traffic advisory sign system.  There are approximately 800 street name signs, 600 with stops signs and uncountable warning, guide and parking signs throughout Novato.  Yearly 600 signs are repaired and replaced, 200 due to vandalism.  Each year 300 new signs are installed as required by the City Engineer or in response to new state and federal regulations.

The Traffic Division works closely with Novato Police in their Neighborhood, Park and Business Watch Programs, and responds to service requests for fabrication of special signs and electrical, plumbing and carpentry services.
