Novato’s Community-Based Transportation Plan (CBTP) identifies local transportation needs, as well as solutions to address those challenges. The plan development included:

• Emphasizing community participation in identifying transportation needs and prioritizing potential solutions;
• Fostering collaboration between local residents, community-based organizations, and transit operators; and
• Building community capacity by involving community-based organizations in the planning process.

Efforts on the Novato CBTP began in Spring 2014 with the meeting of the Novato CBTP Stakeholder Committee. Stakeholder Committee members worked with their neighbors and other interested people to learn about transportation issues, identify and evaluate possible solutions, and recommend a list of improvements that will make it safer and more comfortable for people to walk, bike and use a bus in Novato.

The Community Based Transportation Plan development was funded by the Transportation Authority of Marin through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
