Please fill out and submit the online form below to report a code violation to the City of Novato Code Enforcement Division.

There are conditions on a property that may violate the City of Novato Municipal Code or California Building Code; some conditions are more common than others. Please Note: Code Enforcement Officers investigate violations on private property only.

In order for a complaint to be investigated, the following information is required: 

  • exact location of alleged violation
  • description of alleged violation
  • your name, phone number, address and email address (this information is confidential)

Complaints are generally investigated in the order filed. However, any possible violation that is, or could be, a health and safety concern takes precedence over all other complaints. A Code Enforcement Officer may contact you if more information is required.

Note: Anonymous and/or incomplete complaints cannot be processed. May take up to 48 business hours to receive a response from staff. Separate complaint is required for each property.
