All construction must be inspected before it is covered. Please ask your building inspector, at time of permit issuance, what inspections are needed for your project. The Building Division strives to provide next-day inspections, if possible. Occasionally, heavy inspection loads prevent next day inspections. To schedule, reschedule, or cancel an inspection, you must call the automated City of Novato Building Inspection Hotline at 415-899-8240.
The Inspection Hotline will not permit inspections to be scheduled on City non-working days and holidays, or if the inspection workload is heavy. The next available business day will be offered first. However, you may schedule inspections up to seven days in advance.

Authorized Construction Hours:
• Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• No Construction on Sundays or Official Federal Holidays
