This year, in honor of Arbor Day, the City of Novato is planting 80 trees at Hamilton Amphitheatre Park and Scottsdale Pond in partnership with the California Urban Forests Council, West Coast Arborists, Inc., Western Chapter ISA, and Sustainable Novato. The trees will be planted on Saturday, May 1 at:
- 8:30am at Hamilton Amphitheater Park, 601 Hamilton Pkwy
- 9:30am at Scottsdale Pond, 1202 Redwood Blvd.
Volunteer to help plant trees at either location—all ages are welcome to participate at this family-friendly event! Volunteers are required to pre-register online and choose their preferred park at caufc.org/plant-trees-in-novato. When registering to volunteer, please limit your volunteer group to a pod of 3-4 family members or vaccinated friends and list all members. Please note: Walk-ups will not be allowed, and all participants must pre-register. Novato Public Works staff will pre-dig holes to make the tree planting process easier for volunteers.
During the event, all participants must follow strict COVID-19 safety protocols, including but not limited to:
- Mandatory face coverings must be worn at all times.
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet must be maintained from people outside your household/pod. Please do NOT assist other groups.
- Stay home if you are feeling ill. All volunteers will have their temperatures taken upon arrival.
- To minimize the touching of surfaces, volunteers are encouraged to bring their own shovels, if possible. Work gloves are also highly recommended.
Novato’s Arbor Day Tree Planting event is part of the Cool Parks grant program, funded by CAL FIRE.
