18th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Image of Drug TakeBack Day

It's time to toss those unused/expired medications at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Drug Take Back event hosted by the Novato Police Department.

The Novato Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration want to help make homes safe by destroying all expired or unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications during YOUR community Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the lobby of the Novato PD at 909 Machin Avenue between 10am and 2pm.

Novato Police officers will be on hand to take possession of any expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. The purpose of the drop off is to help residents remove potentially dangerous substances from their medicine cabinets by establishing a safe collection site. The service is completely FREE and anonymous, no questions will be asked.

Residents are advised that disposing of unused medicines by flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose safety, environmental and health hazards.

For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about the October 26th Take Back Day event, visit the DEA at takebackday.dea.gov.
