Local residents, property owners and business owners can learn the best ways to prepare for winter storms. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main ballroom of the Hilton Embassy Suites, at 101 McInnis Parkway in San Rafael.

Fair attendees will:

• Get tips about safety and protecting property by experts from all of Marin’s eight flood control zones
• See demonstrations for proper safety measures such as sand bag preparation
• Find out how to receive emergency alerts
• Learn basic information on FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps
• Learn about the community’s level of flood preparedness
• See what resources are available to the public
• Share ideas with other residents
• And much more!

Exhibitors include local, regional and national flood control agencies, environmental groups, emergency services specialists, town and city representatives and private companies.
