Sign up to receive alerts, and be sure you are prepared for a quick evacuation during red flag warnings.

The Fire Safe Marin Website provides a great guide: http://www.firesafemarin.org/preparedness/evacuation

Create defensible space for 100’ around your home:

If you  have concerns about open space and possible fire hazards within your home’s 100’ ring of defensible space:

Contact the Novato Fire District at (415) 878-2693 to request a free Fire Wise Property Evaluation and/or ask about their Neighborhood and Homeowner Brush Removal Matching Grants.

If the open space belongs to the City of Novato and you have concerns about fire hazards, please contact the City Public Works Department  by filling out a Service Request at novato.org/servicerequest, or email Public Works at pw@novato.org.

You can also contact the Marin County Assessor at (415) 473-7215 or via email to get help determining ownership of adjacent open spaces.

The City of Novato works collaboratively with the Novato Fire District, the Marin County Open Space District, and FIRESafe Marin,  local HOAs and private property owners to address critical areas requiring vegetation management. The City Council received a report  and presentation on this issue at the 9/25/2018 City Council Meeting.

Please consider becoming part of the solution by participating in Firewise USA.
