Welcome to the Streets & Traffic Division
The City of Novato Street and Traffic Division is responsible for providing a variety of routine, specialized and emergency services that secure a vital and safe community for our residents and visitors.
The Street Division maintains streets, structures, roadway easements, manages the NPDES Storm Water Program, oversees street sweeping operations, public drainage facilities, creeks, and provides emergency service in response to storms and floods.
The Traffic Division fabricates and installs regulatory, warning and other signs, applies and removes white and yellow thermoplastic lines and messages. The Crew provides graffitti removal on public structures and manages two storm water pump stations at Hamilton Field. The Traffic Division also supports emergency service activities during storms for traffic control.
The Division is an integral part of the City's emergency response during storms or other disasters. Crews are in assigned areas to provide an immediate response to community requests or support mutual-aid calls from Police and Fire Departments. Personnel are dispatched through our corporation yard to relieve local flooding, clear debris, detour and guide traffic or perform a variety of emergency services impacting public and private infrastructure.
