All construction must be inspected before it is covered. Please ask your building inspector, at time of permit issuance, what inspections are needed for your project.
|24 HOUR INSPECTION REQUEST LINE
The Building Division strives to provide next-day inspections, if possible. Occasionally, heavy inspection loads prevent next day inspections. However, you may call for inspections up to five working days in advance. To schedule, reschedule, or cancel an inspection, you must call the automated City of Novato Building Inspection Hotline prior to 6 AM. Your inspection will be scheduled for the same day, subject to inspection loads. If an inspection cannot be scheduled the next day, the system will automatically push the inspection to the next business day.
View detailed inspection request instructions & codes.
The system will not permit inspections to be scheduled on City non-working days and holidays
, or if the inspection workload is heavy. Otherwise, you will be scheduled on the next business day. If you have a question or would like to speak with your building inspector, prior to an inspection, please see the Inspection Districts below for contact information.
Authorized Construction Hours:
• Monday through Friday – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturdays – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• No Construction on Sundays or Official Federal Holidays
