The Housing, Zoning & Building Codes Appeals Board is a board created by the City Council of the City of Novato, consisting of five members of the public and two alternate members, charged with examining issues involving the City's Municipal Code. Public hearings before the board are held on an as-needed basis. The most common issue heard involves violations of the Municipal Code resulting in public/private nuisances. Properties declared a public nuisance are required to adhere to the ruling of the board and pay a fee of $1500.00.
