The Novato Arts Center at Hamilton Field provides a campus setting for artists at the historic airfield, once called the "Hollywood of military bases". The facility has been recently renovated, retaining its original 1930's Spanish architectural style. The Novato Arts Center campus consists of three buildings, housing over 40 individual artist studios, a museum, art classrooms, art gallery and retail store. A restaurant onsite, Beso Bistro offers brunch, lunch and dinner menus with indoor and outdoor patio seating.
Artists with studios at the Novato Arts Center work in a variety of media, from oils and watercolor to ceramics and metal. To catch a glimpse of the artists at work, stop by the first Sunday of every month for Open Studios. Visitors have the opportunity to watch artists at work, ask questions, and purchase handmade art by local artists. The gallery and retail store are run by the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, a nonprofit Bay Area arts organization. In fulfillment of their mission to provide community access to art, the Museum Gallery is free to the public.
The three building campus is connected by pathways and an interior garden area. The Gallery and office are located at 500 Palm Drive. Classrooms and studios are located at 501 Palm Drive and 781 Hamilton Parkway.
